Close to Wrest Park, stands the sandstone church of St.James built from 1829 when the original tower became too heavy for the walls of the old C13 church & was demolished. The sandstone came from a local quarry on the Ampthill Road.
Inside the church, you will find a font dated 1890 & a beautiful stained glass window in the east.
The window is by Thomas Baillie & dates from 1857. It has three cinque foiled lights. The centre one,is shorter than normal to allow for a small tracery below a four centred arch above the window. Additional windows in the east end are dated 1923.
The churchyard is 'open' &the graveyard has been the resting place for many since the late 1800s.

Visited the photography competition and craft stalls. Nice way to while away some time on a Sunday afternoon. Everyone was chatty, even bought something. Good atmosphere.
